Social Experiences of Teens with Physical Disabilities

Sociology graduate student at East Tennessee State University and parent of an adolescent daughter with spina bifida, Amy Sorensen is conducting research on the social experiences of teens with physical disabilities. As part of her thesis research, she is administering surveys to teens nationwide.

What is this research about?

This research looks at the social experiences of adolescents with physical disabilities. The young person will be asked questions about how they feel about themselves, others their age, their schools, and their communities. We want to see if teens with disabilities have the same social experiences and opportunities as those without disabilities. We also want to see how these experiences can be improved for them.
